LAHORE, Sept 8: National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC) member Syed Altaf Husain on Monday allowed Grade-II officials of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) to participate in the trade union activities as the nature of their job has not changed.

The commission, granting stay to the petitioners, observed that they were entitled to hold the membership of the trade union.

The commission also issued notice to the respondents to appear and submit reply on Sept 29.

Petitioners Muhammad Farid, Muhammad Sohail Yousaf and others, through Kazim Husain Kazmi, submitted that the management had issued promotion letters to them and their supporters.

They further submitted that the circular issued by the management showed that the nature of duties were the same after promotion.

They maintained that, in collaboration with the management, the “Ittehad Group of Respondent Unions” were bent upon striking out their and their supporters’ names from the membership of the union.—APP
