LAHORE: A youth found wounded with a bullet near Shadman Chowk on Sunday evening turned out to be a robbery suspect, according to police.

The wounded young man, identified as Wali Raza of Ravi Road, is stated to be in a critical condition at the Services Hospital.

Model Town SP (Operations) Baqir Raza said Rescue 1122 personnel informed Rescue 15 police about a 22-year-old man who was found lying on a road with a bullet wound to his face.

A pistol and two bullet magazines were also found near the injured youngster.

The SP said police rushed to the hospital where Rescuers handed over the weapon, magazines and the victim’s cell phone to them.

He said on checking the data with the Crime Record Office, Shadman SHO came to know that Wali Raza of Ravi Road was challaned in not less than six robbery cases. He said the suspect was last time released from a jail about a month ago.

The SP said it was yet to be known as to how the suspect received a bullet, adding the police suspected he got injured while committing some street crime.

Shadman SHO said one of the suspect’s accomplices identified as Adil was still in jail in connection with a robbery, while Wali secured post-arrest bail. He said Wali was not yet able to record his statement.
