OIC’s Kashmir group meets on 26th

ISLAMABAD, Sept 7: The Organization of Islamic Conference’s contact group on Kashmir is expected to meet on Sept 26 in New York to review the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and reaffirm its support to the people of the region, foreign ministry sources said on Sunday.

Foreign ministers of the group’s members — Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Niger — and the OIC secretary-general meet on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session every year.

Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri, who will accompany President Pervez Musharraf on his visit to the US, will attend the meeting.

The group would call for an improvement in the deteriorating state of human rights in occupied Kashmir while drawing the world’s attention to the longstanding dispute,” sources said.
