BADIN: The Badin district and sessions court on Thursday awarded capital punishment to a man in an honour killing case.

Abdul Jabbar Dal was found guilty of shooting dead his sister, Humaira Dal, and wounding her friend, Tayyab Gopang, in Ali Mir Shah village in 2011.

Pronouncing the verdict, Judge Ghulam Rasool Samoon awarded the death penalty to Abdul Jabbar Dal and a fine of Rs100,000 on the murder count and another Rs100,000 for causing wounds to the man.

In case of default on the fine money, the convict would have to undergo one-year imprisonment on the murder count, and seven-year imprisonment for wounding Mr Gopang, the judge said.

The case was registered at the Kario Ganwhar police station situated in Shaheed Fazil Rahu taluka soon after the murder.
