DHAKA, Sept 6: An Awami League leader, Kamrul Islam, was killed and 15 others were injured in a bomb blast on Saturday night.

The bomb exploded in front of the Bangladesh’s main opposition party office. Meanwhile at least 60 people were injured in Dhaka after police fired tear-gas on protestors demonstrating against Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.

It said lawyers, supporting the main opposition Awami League tried to hold a demonstration ahead of a visit by Khaleda Zia but were blocked by backers of Zia’s party workers, UNB news agency said.
