LAHORE: The Public Accounts Committee-II of the Punjab Assembly has expressed its displeasure at home department’s act of disbursing salaries worth billions of rupees in cash instead of banking channel.

A meeting of the body held here on Thursday with MPA Dr Mukhtar Bharath in the chair was told that the home department disbursed salaries worth Rs1.39 billion in cash against the set criterion – through bank accounts. Similarly, purchases worth Rs3.8 million were also made in cash.

The committee asked the home secretary to investigate the issue. Likewise, the audit department was asked to audit accounts of foundations across the province.
