WASHINGTON, Dec 20: Fox News has apologized to President Gen Pervez Musharraf for the language used with reference to him by a guest in a programme, which the television channel aired recently.
In a letter, sent to the president this week, following a strong protest to the network by Ambassador Dr Maleeha Lohdi, Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes wrote: “I am writing to convey to you my deepest apology for the language that was used by one of the guests on Fox News.
“The reference and the use of the term was wholly inappropriate. It is in no way a reflection of the view of Fox News toward you or anyone else in Pakistan. A guest who does not work for Fox News used it as a figure of speech, which in no way excuses it.”
The chairman also regretted an earlier incident when one of the network’s prime time talk show hosts used inappropriate language about Pakistan.
Ailes further wrote that “another reference to Pakistan by one of our prime time talk show hosts on Dec 17 “was in my view, inappropriate. I have spoken to the person in question and expressed my displeasure and disapproval of what he said.”—APP
