LAHORE: A brick kiln owner ‘killed’ an alleged robber in, what police claimed, a robbery bid on a road in the Nishtar Colony police area on Friday.

Police claimed some robbers signaled a car of Waheed Mayo of Gawala Colony to stop at around 2am but he, also armed with a weapon, opened fire on the suspects, leaving one of them fatally injured. The suspects also opened fire on the car and fled the scene after facing retaliation, leaving their injured accomplice behind. He later died of injuries. Mayo escaped unhurt but his car received bullets fired by the suspects.

The deceased was later identified as 25-year-old Irfan alias Acha of Sheikhupura who was wanted by police of Lahore and Sheikhupura in several cases of robbery, police claimed.

Police shifted the body to morgue for autopsy.
