LARKANA: Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Tuesday arrived in Garhi Khuda Bukhsh Bhutto by helicopter amidst tight security and visited the Buhttos’ mausoleum.

According to party sources, he will participate in a ceremony being held in his hometown on Wednesday to observe the third death anniversary of his grandmother, Begum Nusrat Bhutto.

The sources said that during his stay in Larkana district, Mr Bhutto-Zardari would also take part in the Diwali celebration at the Naudero House. MNA Ramesh Lal said that up to 1,600 Hindu families from Larkana division had been invited to the event.

Meanwhile, delegations of the Hindu Panchayt Committees from Larkana and Qambar-Shahdadkot districts called on MNA Faryal Talpur at Naudero House on Monday evening.

The delegations comprising Kalpna Devi, Mr Lekhraj and Dr Prem Chand discussed with her various issues being faced by the Hindu community in Sindh. MNA Ramesh Lal and former law minister Ayaz Soomro were also present.

Ms Talpur assured them that the PPP would take all possible measures to protect the rights of religious minorities in the province. She said her party believed in serving people without any discrimination of caste, creed, colour or belief.

She said every citizen of Pakistan enjoyed equal rights as enshrined in the Constitution.

A delegation of PPP women wing led by its chairperson Naseeban Channa, presidents of the high court and several district bar associations and Peoples Lawyers Forum chief also called on her.
