HYDERABAD: Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) vice chancellor Prof Dr Noshad A. Shaikh on Sunday announced establishment of a male medical college to be named after (Pakistan Peoples Party chairman) Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari.
The LUMHS, in an official statement, said that the college would be established by January 2015.
It would help overcome a shortage of male doctors in the field, the statement said, adding that the issue was a matter of great concern for the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), which also desired that medical seats should be allocated on a 50-50 basis for male and female candidates.
The announcement came on a day when tests for 2014-15 batch of medical students for admission to the the medical and dental colleges was held across Sindh.
A total of 5,297 candidates from 13 districts — Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Matiari, Tando Mohammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Tharparkar, Thatta, Badin, Jamshoro and Sujawal — appeared in the test conducted by the National Testing Service (NTS).
LARKANA: A total of 3,284 candidates appeared in the entry test conducted on Sunday by the National Testing Service (NTS) at the Police Training School for admission to the Chandka Medical College (CMC) and the Bibi Aseefa Dental College (BADC) for the academic year 2014-15.
Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University admission director Dr Abdul Waheed Memon said that 1,370 male and 1,914 female candidates from seven districts of the interior Sindh took the test held for 250 seats available at the CMC and BADC.
Two candidates were expelled from the centre for using unfair means and one invigilator was stopped from continuing his duty for using his mobile phone during the test, he said.

Idea of Bilawal Medical College is a positive start. However, there are many children in Sindh who do not have a school to go to. Either there is no school in the area, or parents cannot afford tuition fee. Result is that many children are growing up as illeterate adults, cannot read, write or do maths, adding more to unskilled, illeterate population. Who is responsible for this injustice in the society? Let us hope Bilawal has leadership qualities to solve this ongoing problem?

Hyderabad should also be renamed Bilawalabad and the province of Sindh renamed Bhuttostan to pay tribute to these personalities. 20% of health and education budgets should be allocated towards commercial ads to highlight the nation about their achievements.

This is a joke. What has he done to have a medical college named after him? ... Hold on he is a Bhutto so that should be good enough! I can hear many of you shouting that he is not a Bhutto but a Zardari! As far as I am concerned, he is a pompous spoilt brat who makes a fool of himself every time he opens his mouth. I won't be sending my kids to this college.

National tax wealth will be used and Bilawal's name will be given. What a shame!, similar to Benazir's income support program where National tax money used and Benazir's name was given.
Ever thought of bringing back their swiss and other black money from abroad and spend for the welfare of Pakistani people.
They are trying to compete with IK who has built Shaukat Khanam hospital in Lahore, Shaukat Khanam hospital in Peshawar and NAMAL university in Mianwali by his effort and through donations not with National tax money.

Good yet another private medical college. The standards of these colleges are terrible and I speak with first hand experience with having to deal with graduates from these institutions. They are let loose after five years of lazy teaching and are trying to handle the wards. Medicine is not a joke and there is no room for gaps in basic knowledge by that stage. MASSIVE quality checks and controls needed for all exisitng medical colleges. Opening a medical college is not as simple and exciting as building a new block and sticking a fancy over used name onto it. For gods' sake why is every single thing in this country carried out so ignorantly.

These are some of the things PPP govt should be doing all along. In fact most of the medical colleges have been established in Sindh have been under PPP govt. God gave a golden and fair opportunity to three top parties to rule three different provinces. Their performance in the respective province should decide their fate in the next elections. Our country needs three things to move ahead, education, education and education. Some would surely find fault with this or any other college. But would this and all other schools be for Pakistanis or not?

What, Richy rich Bilawal is going back to college and want his own exclusive college named after him with friends from all part of Sind except Karachi? Usually, schools, colleges, hospitals and other buildings and streets are named after dead heroes, but naming college after (Pakistan Peoples Party chairman) Bilawal Zardari. does not make sense. He is not even a hero or man with any kind of experience.

Why to take the pain of building another college to be named "Bilawal Medical College". Just "Sindhitionalize" any existing hospital or medical college. Agha Khan Hospital or Liaqat National Hospital could be a good choice.

Just improve the condition of public colleges, schools and hospitals. No need for Bilawal college for men etc. Bilawal houses across the country is a good source to utilize the money earned through corruption in personal property. The country is not a fiefdom.

If Sindh Government is spending the poor people's money then it should be named after a poor person who died without getting proper treatment so that the moral of the common person is given a boost that the government cares for the POOR, not that one rich person is trying to elaborate himself on Nation's expenses.

This is funny. Institutions are named after people who have done something extraordinary for the country or humanity. This is another example of what we all call is monarchy. what have this kid done for the country or humanity. I can understand a personal property being in the name of Zardari's son, but a hospital funded by peoples money. This is another joke. I am all for any school for Boys and Girls, but please do not name the school after Zardari family.
