HYDERABAD, Sept 4: The City Taluka Council at its session held on Monday unanimously adopted a resolution demanding reopening of the Khokharapar route and shifting of the visa office of India from Islamabad to Karachi.

Moving the resolution, Qamaruddin Shaikh said the people of Sindh who wanted to travel to India had to incur more expenses and suffer inconvenience as they had to go to Islamabad to get visa.

He said the question of security did not arise if the Khokharapar route was reopened as no security was involved in Lahore which also bordered India.

Mr Shaikh demanded that the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should open the Khokharapar route after the railway service with India was restored.

Usman Abbasi, Illahi Bux Shaikh, Yaqoob Bhatti, Iqbal Kaimkhani and others supported the resolution.

In his ruling, convener Abdul Qadeer Naghar said the shifting of the visa office to Karachi and the reopening of the Khokharapar route would facilitate thousands of people of Sindh having relatives in India.

In another resolution, the taluka council approved the purchase of a tractor and another vehicle for disposal of dirty water.
