China invites Nawaz to attend host-partners dialogue in Beijing

ISLAMABAD: The Chinese leadership has invited Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday to attend the host-partners dialogue to be held during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Informal Leaders’ Meeting in Beijing next month.

Invitation was delivered by Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong, when he called on the premier at the Prime Minister House.

Weidong said the Chinese President Xi Jinping was looking forward to visit Pakistan at an early and mutually convenient date.

The prime minister spoke highly of the recent progress in Pakistan-China relations. He also appreciated the timely support and assistance rendered by the Chinese government for the relief of the displaced persons and the recent flood victims.

PM Nawaz stressed that Pakistan firmly supports China’s core interests and major concerns and was ready to work with the neighbouring country to keep building mutual trust, fast-tracking the construction of Pakistan-China Economic Corridor and upgrading the bilateral cooperation for the benefit of both the countries.

Weidong said their government values great importance to the strategic partnership between China and Pakistan and consider it as the priority of its foreign policy, adding that China will continue to promote friendship and substantive cooperation with Pakistan.

People can disagree with him but no one can deny our PM has taken great strides in strengthening Pakistan's diplomacy across the world. China is the second largest economy in the world, and Pakistan has been its most closest ally for generations. It is heartening that our deep friendship has resulted in close consultations with Pakistani PM and Chinese President for all major decisions. India rolled out red carpet for China hoping they can get closer, but the Chinese are smart that they could see through India's nefarious designs.

@Amir Bangash : Pakistan should protect its own interest and should not be used by someone against any country, the day Pakistan realizes that, Pakistan will be one of the great nations of the world. I am surprised Pakistan is still being used by US , China, Saudi , please know your potential, you have snow fed river, fertile land of Punjab, one of the best ports karachi which should be used as a route for central Asia, use these opportunities and grow. Huge English speaking population, great educated people . Wishing Pakistan all the best

India is a peace loving country, never been an aggressor but rather a defender. Had China been in India's place, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Maldavies, Bangladesh would all have been claimed by China.

I am surprised that most of the commentators here have not yet realised that President Xi is changing the policy towards India. He has convinced PM Modi to travel with him on the New Silk Road that both know should pass through Pakistan. Xi will tie India and Pakistan with Gold Chains to this new road. Mark my word, neither can escape.

The Pakistanis are portraying as if Nawaz Sharif has been invited by Chinese premier to accompany him to the moon. This is an annual Asia-pacific economic development summit. The fact that sharif had to be invited two weeks before the summit is actually not a good sign - someone much have backed out and China needs to fill the seats. By the way, what will Nawaz sharif talk to the business leaders at the summit

@MA First clean up your own house, bring law, order and sensible institutions. Including entire Pakistan land thahad 30% population Hindus. What is the count now. This is the case in Kashmir as well which the ab-origins were all Hindus at one point in time.

Countries strategic partnerships are well known USE AND THROUGH (Pak experienced this more than any country in the world). Some low IQ Indians used to say similar things USSR/Russia was India's friend, fortunately majority of Indians came out of that inferiority complex; now Indians believe India has no friends, it has to stand on its own feet.

China invites our elected leader PM NS. PMLn has made great strides in bringing Chinese investment on build operate and transfer basis, which will not burden Pakistan with additional loans. The US$ 34Bn worth of projects will help Pakistan overcome energy shortfall and put us on the path of prosperity. It was NS who has secured Chinese investment as previous governments did nothing to develop the country. Most of the energy projects won't come online during PMLn term, but will come online if PMLn starts work today. My support for PMLn.
