PML-Q, PPP-S lawmakers stage walkout

PESHAWAR, Sept 3: The members of PML-Q and PPP (S) staged a walkout from assembly proceedings on Wednesday over alleged irregularities in the government departments and posting and transfers despite a ban.

The issue was raised by Qazi Mohammad Asad of PML-Q on a point of order.

Qazi Asad said he had not been consulted before implementation of any decision in his constituency at Haripur and the chief minister’s Principal Staff Officer was issuing orders on posting and transfers by relaxing the ban.

If a ban was imposed on posting and transfers, it must not be relaxed for appeasing members of treasury bench, he added.

The contention of Qazi Asad was supported by Bashir Bilour of ANP.

Later, the agitating member went out of the house in protest. He was followed by Faisal Zaman of PML-Q and Jamshed Khan of PPP(S).

Speaking in response to the allegation, NWFP Senior Minister Sirajul Haq assured the house that the government would ensure posting and transfers in accordance with rules.

He also requested all the members to point out irregularities in any department and the government would take appropriate action against it.

Later, the protesting MPAs ended their walkout on the request of treasury members. —APP
