KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court in Karachi on Friday sent two suspects in the murder case of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Zahra Shahid, one of the party's founding leaders, on a seven-day-long physical remand.

The suspects were presented in court today under strict security and with their faces veiled.

One of the suspects Rashid alias Master was arrested nearly a week ago, whereas, the second suspect Zahid Abbas was arrested on Thursday from Karachi’s Clifton area.

A total of four suspects have so far been arrested in the case of the PTI leader who was fatally shot outside her residence in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority Phase-IV in May last year. Three were arrested a week ago whereas a fourth was arrested on Thursday.

Announcing the first three arrests a little over a week ago, AIG Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo had said that the suspects were members of a political party, adding that the main suspect hailed from Hyderabad but was now a DHA resident. At the time, Thebo had refused to disclose the names of the arrested men or the party they were associated with.

The fate of the remaining two suspects was not clear.
