LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan wants veteran batsman Younis Khan, who recently criticised the selectors for dropping him from the ODI squad named for the Australia series in the UAE, to show “some maturity”.
Ruling out any disciplinary action against Younis, Shaharyar however explicitly said he was disappointed with the Younis’ word to the media.
“I am a bit disappointed at the way Younis has reacted to being dropped from the ODI squad as he is a very senior player and we have lot of respect for him,” Shaharyar said.
“Such statements are not worthy coming from Younis given his stature,” added Shaharyar.
“We have sent him a letter asking him to be careful in future and we expect him to understand the situation which does no good for the image of Pakistan cricket.
“But we have no intention to take any disciplinary action against him and we hope he will settle down now.
“I have plans to meet him [Younis] in future so that I can hear him out and see what grievances he has but for the moment the selectors have finalised the team for the ODI series against Australia,” the PCB chief added.
