GWADAR: A local leader of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl was shot dead by men on a motorbike in Panjgur on Wednesday.

Haji Rahim Jan was targeted in Gharibabad area.

“Haji Rahim Jan, who was also chairman of the Zamindar Action Committee and a former president of the traders’ organisation, suffered multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot,” police said on Thursday.

The cause of the attack remains unclear.

In another incident, a man was murdered in Kabari Market area of Turbat when he offered resistance to robbers trying to deprive him of his mobile phone and cash.

Police said Mohammad Ayub was passing through the Kabari Market area when two armed men on a motorcycle intercepted him and asked him to hand over his mobile phone and cash.

Ayub refused and during scuffle robbers opened fire, killing him on the spot.

The suspected killers were arrested soon afterwards.
