Hashmi terms party show-cause notice unconstitutional

MULTAN: Senior politician Javed Hashmi said on Wednesday that a show-cause notice served on him today by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) was against the constitution of the party.

Addressing a press conference here at his residence, he lashed out at PTI Secretary General Jahangir Khan Tareen, saying: “They are the people who have ruined the party's future.”

He said that ironically no specific charges had been levelled against him in the notice.

“Those who had never been elected, have never seen the face of a voter, cannot suspend an elected president of the party,” Hashmi said.

He added: “They should know who they are addressing, if they want explanation, I would go to the container to contact people who voted him in majority.”

He also took a dig at Pakistan Awami Tekreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri and Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad, calling them 'honorary chairmen' of PTI.

Hashmi dispelled the impression that either PPP or PML-N were going to support him as an independent candidate in NA-149.

However, he said, if PML-N had decided not to field their candidate against him, it could mean that they 'realised their mistakes'.

He ruled out any possibility of re-joining the 'N-league' after success in by-polls from NA-149 constituency.

How is it against the constitution? any member of party can be sent a show cause notice I guess including IK... Its better if you just parted away from PTI and didnt give any press conference etc. by doing this you are just losing your respect in the eyes of common man like me. I am not a member of PTI.

A 'show-cause' should clearly state words or actions that are contrary to a specific clause of the party constitution or are against the publicly agreed policy of a party. It should spell how those words or actions caused the offence and seek explanation. I have not seen the wording of the notice but am willing to believe Mr Hashmi that the notice issued to him does no such thing.

If your nagging was to score a point, than you have done that. You disagreed with the party and went off your way, nothing wrong with that. But common decency requires to quit and go about your way rather than "Na khalain gay or na khailnay dain gay", Grow up will you.

What does Hashmi want? He has 3 options. Not in any specific order... 1. Come back to PTI? Its too late. He left party at most critical moment on the stance of marching to parliament. He has lost respect. 2. Get re-elected as independent? He can get re-elected but then will have to shake hands with the devil who believes in monarchy not elections. If he gets re-elected he's saying election were free and fair a stance he opposed while in PTI. 3. Just stay quiet. Maybe allow dust to settle so he doesn't look as desperate as he has been.

@Ghazanfar You expected him shut up and go quietly ? think again - Now all PML has to do - sit back - relax and see the Duet between PTI- Chairman - and President - who was elected . No wonder - he will be re-elected perhaps unoppose or no major contender - that will be the slap on the face of PTI - and Mr. Hashmi will bring the circus into the Parliament too - in case - any PTI member stays with party and speaks in Parliament. IK has to deal with a loose canon - Ik is unfit to run Pakistan - IK can not manage his own party - how he going to manage the country ?

When you join a party and are given a high position, next to the chairman of the party, you honour it. If there is a disagreement that compels you to leave, then you walk away with your dignity intact.You did not do it, you made a fool of yourself by throwing unsubstantiated accusations on your party colleagues . I also don't understand his crime except following his conscience. If the core committee didn't approve attacking PM house and secretariat then he was right to walk away because this is the same monarchy behavior IK is protesting against. He is also right that IK is listening to wrong people eg likes of sheikh rashid
