Trader’s wife, son killed in robbery

GUJRAT, Sept 1: A trader’s wife and minor son were shot dead on Sunday night by four unidentified bandits during a dacoity in Mohallah Khwajgan.

Armed bandits sneaked into the house of Malik Arshad and held up the inmates. They were collecting cash and jewellery when Azra Perveen tried to put up resistance. They became infuriated and opened fire at the inmates, killing Azra and her son Mahad (7) instantly. Later, the intruders decamped with Rs250,000 in cash and 40 tolas of gold.

The incident which took place some 200 meter away from the B-Division police station created panic among the residents. The Gujrat DPO reached the spot three hours after the incident while the area police reached there after an hour, the area people claimed.However, the police sent the bodies to mortuary for autopsy and registered a case.

CRUSHED: A flour mill worker was crushed to death while another sustained injuries on Monday when a speeding car hit them on the GT Road near Panjan Kissana.

Afzal and Muhammad Afzaal were crossing the road when the car (GTG-2788) knocked them down, killing the former instantly and injuring the latter critically.

Police have registered a case against the car rider.
