FAISALABAD, Sept 1: Provincial Minister for Communication and Works Zaheeruddin Khan claimed on Monday the police had succeeded in finding a clue to the dacoity-cum-murder and arrested four of the accused, including two women.

Speaking at a news conference here on Monday, the minister said following the incident, a special team was constituted to arrest the culprits.

The police team traced out some phone numbers through the cell phone found from the site of the incident and conducted raids for the arrest of the culprits.

The police raided the house of a former banker, Naeem, in Madina Town and arrested his brother Jameel, wife Razia Bibi and sister-in-law Fatima Bibi. Both the women had a complete information about the incident. Allah Ditta was arrested from Mansoorabad.

The minister claimed Naeem was the mastermind behind the entire episode. He said some 11 people — Naeem, Imran and Zahid of Karachi, Jawed of Nawab Shah, Nazar of Thatta, Rifaat of Khanewal, Allah Ditta, Jawed Ahmad, Ehtesham, Razia and Fatima of Faisalabad — were directly or indirectly involved in this incident.

He also claimed that Rs1.2 million had been recovered from the accused besides a huge quantity of arms.

Meanwhile, acting governor Afzal Sahi visited the house of Mirza Shaukat Baig to mourn the killing of his two brothers.
