LAHORE: Two gunmen arrested in robbery cases have confessed to killing MQM MNA Tahira Asif, a senior police official told Dawn.

CIA DSP Riaz Shah said the suspects were wanted in several cases of robbery. He said the suspects were arrested for other cases and during interrogation, they confessed to killing Tahira.

He said suspects Imran and Kamran were arrested some days ago and Asif’s daughter and driver Azam, who had witnessed the murder, had identified them.

The DSP said the MNA was shot at and injured while resisting an apparent robbery in Iqbal Town in June.
