ISLAMABAD, Sept 1: The National Assembly was told on Monday that Rs2.5 billion was still stuck up with Taj company, which needs to be distributed among 23,078 affected persons.
Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz, in a written reply, to a question of Dr Ataur Rehman said Rs31.08 million had so far been paid among 1,690 affected persons of the Taj Company scam as a full payment while the remaining 8,113 affected persons had been paid Rs147,247 million.
According to the information provided on the floor of the House, the total number of affected people, who have deposited upto Rs50,000, is 3,172. The total amount they have deposited is Rs131.4 million, out of which Rs47.8 million has so far been refunded to implement the orders of the Lahore High Court (LHC) while Rs83.5 million is still pending.
Similarly 11,606 people have deposited upto Rs100,000 with the Taj company the aggregate of which is Rs1.2 billion. Out of this amount, Rs66.9 million has so far been paid while Rs1 billion is still stuck up with the company.
Likewise, 6,126 people have deposited upto Rs300,000 the total of which is Rs1,033,077,339. Out of this amount, Rs29.9 million has so far been paid under LHC’s order while Rs1 billion is still to be paid.
About 484 people have deposited over Rs300,000 each the sum of which is Rs265 million. Out of this amount, Rs2.5 million has so far been paid while Rs262.7 million is still outstanding against the company.
