SAHIWAL: The district government has received Rs10m to develop recreational facilities for the physically challenged persons and students in Faridia Park.

It is learnt the enclave will be having facilities similar to the ones being provided to the special persons at the Racecourse Park, Lahore.

Habib Jillani Vainca, director development, confirmed that the Rs10m grant for the project had been granted. Presently, four major educational institutions are operating in the district for the special persons but there are no recreational facilities for them.

The district government had proposed a project of having special recreational facilities for the physically challenged persons. A team was sent to the Racecourse Park, Lahore, to see the facilities there and apply the same model in Sahiwal. Later, the proposed plan was approved in provincial annual development schemes and funds were allocated.

Muhammad Ashraf, DO (Buildings), said the enclave would be developed at 7.5kanal land in the Faridia Park.

Giving details of the enclave, he said it would have many facilities like special swings which the physically challenged persons would be able to ride in their wheelchairs. There would be a physical teacher/instructor, special sound system, study area and grounds as well.

The contract for construction of the enclave would be awarded within a month and it would be functional in February.
