SAHIWAL: On the orders of Islamabad High Court, the local administration released 26 workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek from Central Jail.

However, 60 workers of both parties were still in jail.

Jail sources informed Dawn 86 workers and supporters of PTI and PAT had been arrested and brought to Central Jail between Aug 13 and 15.

They were arrested from Sahiwal, Okara and Pakpattan districts. Respective district police arrested them in a crackdown to prevent them from attending the ‘Inquilab’ and ‘Azadi’ marches on Islamabad.

Jail sources said on Sunday the remaining prisoners were likely to be released later in the day.
