THIS refers to the so-called free education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. There are three government degree colleges in D.I. Khan. The problem is that degree college I, the largest one, has now started new classes for BS programme which costs about Rs20,000 a year and has aborted BA and BSc programmes.
Students who cannot afford this annual fee have to go to degree college II, which has a relatively small building. It does not have space and staff for such a large number of students. As a result, they have abolished the BA programme.
The federal and provincial governments should look into the matter, or else many students may not be able to continue their studies, especially those who have to do part-time jobs.
