MULTAN: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf President Javed Hashmi says the army generals want to disrupt everything when they are about to retire.

He was addressing a press conference here on Saturday.

Hashmi said for the first time in the country’s history army saved the country and democracy and the system should continue smoothly.

He said masses were not in favour of martial law that’s why the civil society played its role to save democracy.

Lashing out at PTI Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Hashmi said Mr Qureshi had claimed that he would quit politics if his relationship with generals was proved.

“Hamid Gul was an in-service army general when he contacted me during the 1985 elections suggesting me to withdraw my nomination papers against Qureshi as it has been decided to get Qureshi elected,” he said.

Hashmi claimed he was informed by army high officers that Yousuf Raza Gilani and Shah Mehmood Qureshi are ‘their men.’

He said he would not ask Qureshi to quit politics despite his brother Murid Husain Qureshi claimed that Mr Qureshi went to Dubai to meet retired Gen Pasha.

He said Hyde Parks should be established in various cities of the country where the people should be allowed to express their feelings without fear.

I am proud to know Mr. Hashmi as a Pakistani politician with character and integrity. Personally I do not believe that democracy is right for a a country of largely uneducated people. However I greatly appreciate Mr. Hashmi's conviction for his beliefs, and standing up for what he genuinely believes in. Again, it is great to know of a politician of integrity and character.

Its true, either give them extensions or they stage a show to topple the govt. This country needs civilian supremacy. We need to educate masses about why do we need democracy and how does it works. Its the generals that have been actually ruling us since decades. This was never their job and still no one points finger at them everyone abuses the politicians.

Mr.Hashmi who brought your dearest leader NS into politics and who brought ZAB into politics. The important question is not what the Generals have been doing,the important question is what the politicians have been doing for the welfare of the common man. You are supporting pure nepotism and corruption in the name of democracy. Incident like the Model Town killings will make the entire cabinet resign and bring the government down and face the courts in any civilized and democratic country and here your leader doesn't even allow the FIR. Yes indeed we need Hyde parks but to say the truth and not to spew poison only against the Generals and our own army as you always do easily forgetting the dirty jobs done by your fellow politicians. Hope you are able to see the truth and say the truth some day.

Hahmi Sahib has mostly knowingly or not travelled on a road and perhaps enjoyed it just because it had too many speed breakers giving him the satisfaction of successfully crossing over the bumps.Unfortunately the rising speed breakers at this late stage in life are proving greater hindrances due to natural decline in in energy and general fitness. If you have been going on top of Murree hills so often it does not mean you can go on top of K2 regardless of your passion and resolve. The bumps are greater and the falling heavier and more painful .But some people are inspired by the storey of an ant and have the resolve to try try and try again.

Hashmi has lost his mind. When he took monies from Mehran Bank it was for what purpose. He is gone mad Hashmi and Qureshi had been rivals and this is petty politics. It is too close to the temple of democracy (aka parliament) and hence their is the risk that the voices voiced there will cause deep disturbance to the monks in the temple who at any time would be deeply engrossed into meditation of how to uphold, sustain and preach democracy.

Good idea Hashmi sahab .. how about converting D-chawk into the first of its kind of a hyde park. After all it has already become a place where problems in the system are being exposed. Begin in close proximity to the parliament, it will have the added advantage that the upholders of democracy (or as they like to call themselves) would be able to listen to the plights of people first hand and take prompt action - just as they have been doing in this past month!

If Mr. Hashmi had such information about Mr. Qureshi then why did he not talk about it earlier. Why did Hashmi talk about it when he was asked to leave the party. Mr. Hashmi just wants some limelight and I think he is too old to do politics now and should retire peacefully with whatever respect he has gained. Why did Mr. Hashmi carry on for so long with PTI if he had so much venom against the very party that gave him the most respect. I would never trust a single word uttered by Mr. Hashmi.

Hashmi sahaib took an oath and served Gen. Zia ul Haq. The worst type of military dictator imanginable. He was also the part IJI group which won the elections. Some how after serving the worst dictatorship, Mr. Hashmi became ardent supporter of democracy, and from that time onward is desperately trying to distant himself from the armed forces. Now he is positioning himself as hero and flag bearer of democracy.

Everyone in this country has relations with the army as they are also from among us. When Hashmi Sahib is informed by "the high army officers" then that's ok as that doesn't constitute to having "relations" with the army.
