LAHORE: Former Test off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq is given the task by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to start rehabilitation of off-spinner Saeed Ajmal, who is suspended by the ICC for defective bowling action.

The PCB took prompt action of engaging Saqlain, who is the inventor of doosra delivery, as soon as the ICC declared Ajmal’s action illegal.

“If Saqlain succeeds in his task, the PCB will send Ajmal abroad to be examined by a bio-mechanic expert so that he could be judged before appearing for final assessment by the ICC before the World Cup,” a PCB official told Dawn on the condition of anonymity.

The official added that though it was a hard job for both Saqlain and Ajmal to get rid of the problem, there were also chances for success.

“Ajmal has to show fighting spirit to overcome the problem,” he said.
