SHEIKHUPURA: Eight labourers sustained burn injuries, three of them critically, when the boiler of a thread manufacturing factory, exploded on Lahore Road on Thursday. Boota, Sharif and Allah Ditta were shifted to Mayo Hospital in a critical condition.

The factory union held the factory management responsible for the incident.

EPIDEMIC: Waterborne epidemics broke out in the flood-ravaged localities in Ferozewala and Muridke tehsils. Dawn learnt people were suffering from cholera, malaria fever and gastro.

SUICIDE: A housewife swallowed poisonous pills after a quarrel with her husband in the Islampura locality in the limit of Warburton police station on Thursday.

Anwar Bibi demanded pocket money from her husband Arshad and on his refusal she ended her life, the family said.
