SARGODHA: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday visited flood-hit areas of Kotmomin, Sargodha tehsil, Takht Hazara, Midh Ranjha and Lalliani and promised to compensate the marooned people.

Speaking at Chak Khana, Kotmomin, 45km from here, he directed the administration to assess the losses.

He said every victim would get appropriate compensation and expressed satisfaction over the rescue operation by the civil administration and army.

Earlier, District Coordination Officer Saqib Manan told the prime minister that it was the highest flood since 1992. He said as water was receding, rehabilitation work would be started soon.

He said in Chak Khana, 600 tents had been erected and arrangements had been made for supplying food and water to the affected.

In Kotmomin tehsil, 30,000 people were affected by flood and three relief camps had been set up in the area and 42 boats were in operation in this area, he added.
