RAWALPINDI: Following the escape of a handcuffed suspect from Airport police station on Wednesday, the two policemen deputed to guard him were arrested and a case registered against them.

Mohammad Shan, who was an accused in a theft and brawl case, was arrested by Airport police on September 2 and was in remand custody when he managed to escape after loosening his handcuffs.

When contacted, Deputy Superintendent of Police Civil Lines Farhan Aslam said the suspect, Mohammad Shan, was in handcuffs and was being guarded by Assistant Sub-Inspector Shahzad Ahmed and Head Constable Islam Mehmood.

He said soon after the accused escaped, the two police officials were arrested and a case registered against them under Police Order 2002.

As Airport police station had suffered damages due to heavy rain, the suspects were kept in Gulzar-i-Quaid Police Chowki. The accused had also been lodged at the chowki.
