LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Tuesday removed its assistant director (law) from service, imposing a major penalty under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEEDA) Act-2006.

The action was taken against Assistant Director Badiuzzaman after he failed to submit his joining report to the LDA in accordance with the Lahore High Court’s orders of Aug 7, last year and remained absent from duty for more than a year.

On the other hand, the LDA administration transferred and posted three deputy directors. According to a spokesman, Mehfoozul Haq, working in the Directorate of Katchi Abadis, has been transferred and pos ted in the Directorate of Estate Management-I.

Assistant Director Nazir Ahmed Bhatti, awaiting posting in the Administration Directorate, has been posted in the Directorate of Katchi Abadis.

Sayed Yawar Abbas, awaiting posting in the Administration Directorate, has been posted in the Directorate of Estate Management (Quaid-i-Azam Town). Meanwhile, the administration also granted 46-day Ex-Pakistan leave with full pay to Wajahat Farran, assistant director (Accounts) in Directorate of Finance. It also entrusted the additional charge of post of assistant director (Accounts) to Haroon Khan.

POLIO: The City District Government of Lahore (CDGL) launched a three-day drive for administering polio drops to children in 79 union councils of five towns.

Meanwhile, various CDGL’s price control magistrates got arrested five shopkeepers for being involved in hoarding and overcharging in city’s markets.

The vendors were arrested after cases were registered against them. They also imposed a fine of Rs69,500 on several others.
