KARACHI: Pakistan’s former world amateur snooker champion Mohammad Asif fell prey to Gareth Allen of the Wales 4-5 after enjoying 4-3 lead in his group ‘G’ match of the SangSom 6-Red World Championship which commenced in Bangkok on Monday.
According to results made available here, Asif piled up a maximum break of 75 to win the first frame 75-4. However, the lead was short lived as he conceded the following two frames 25-31, 0-46 only to bounce back and drew level two-all by taking the fourth 41-20 which include a solid break of 41.
Asif again surged 3-2 by winning the fifth frame 54-11 before losing the sixth 0-68 that again bought two cueists on the even kneel.
The former national champion picked up the seventh frame 44-19 to earn 4-3 lead but eventually gave up losing the following two 13-44, 0-47 to suffer first defeat in the event which is participated by 48 cueists across the world.
