LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Monday sent 71 workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf to jail on judicial remand facing charges of encountering police during protests in the provincial metropolis.

The PTI workers held demonstrations at different points of the city to condemn police torture of party activists in Islamabad. Garden Town police arrested the workers and booked them under anti-terrorism law.

Presiding judge Khalid Mahmood Ranjha sent all 71 arrested workers on judicial remand and directed the police to submit challan of the case.
