KASUR: The three-day Urs of mystic poet Baba Bulleh Shah concluded here on Tuesday with ‘dua’ (prayer).

District Coordination Officer Syed Javid Iqbal Bukhari, District Police Officer Jawad Qamar, district officers, local religious figures and members of the religious affairs committee also participated in the dua.

Speaking on the occasion, the DCO paid glowing tributes to the saint and said teachings of Bulleh Shah had an element of universality. He also laid a ‘chaddar’ on the shrine.

Thousands of people visited the shrine, laid ‘chaddars’ and offered ‘fateha.’

Qawalis, Heer Waris Shah recitation contests, recitation of ‘Kafis’ and Na’ats were part of the three-day celebrations.

At the time of filing of the report at 8.30pm, a ‘Mehfil-i-Rang’ under the Majlis-i-Bulleh Shah was in progress that would conclude at Fajr.

KILLS QUACK: A man shot dead a ‘quack’ for allegedly refusing to treat his ailing mother here on Tuesday at Roshan Bheela in the limits of Sheikhum police station.

Razaq went to the clinic of Zulqernain and asked him to go to his home to examine his mother. Zulqernain refused to go and insisted that the patient be brought to the clinic. This annoyed Razaq who shot at and killed Zulqernain. The suspect managed his escape. Police are looking into the matter.

ACCIDENT: A woman was killed in an accident on Tuesday near railway crossing in city police precincts.

Muhammad Shafi of Kot Murad Khan was on his way home along with his wife Fazeelat Bibi on a motorcycle. Near railway crossing, Shafi tried to overtake the tractor-trolley and struck against it. Fazeelat fell down on the ground and was run over and killed by the tractor-trolley.

The driver managed his escape. Shafi remained unhurt.

Police are investigating.
