LAHORE: Newly-appointed Capital City Police Officer retired Captain Muhammad Amin Wains has emphasised upon his force to ensure respect to citizens, behave with complainants politely at police stations and take immediate and practical steps to solve their problems.

He focused on making the beat system more effective to control street crime with a warning that SDPOs, SHOs and beat in-charges concerned would be held responsible for increase in the street crime.

He said a comprehensive strategy should be evolved for the arrest of proclaimed offenders and court absconders for curbing crimes.

The CCPO expressed these views while addressing a joint meeting of SDPOs of Saddar, Iqbal Town and Model Town divisions besides DSPs of CIA, City Traffic Police, VVIPs & Security Division at Police Lines in Qila Gujjar Singh here on Friday.

He asked the officials to work with sincerity and determination for resolving the problems of citizens, adding that policemen who would work with sincerity for the protection of life and property of citizens and resolution of their problems would be encouraged.

He said the SDPOs should ensure that they themselves, SHOs and beat in-charges should keep a close liaison with the elite of their areas for controlling crime with mutual cooperation.

Mr Wains said that work should be carried out on an emergent basis for making police intelligence system more effective and coordinated so that strict action could be taken against criminal elements.

He said all SDPOs should ensure the presence of SHOs at police stations during specific times for their easy access to complainants and immediate resolution of their problems.
