MARDAN, July 22: PML (Zia group) president Ijazul Haq on Tuesday said his party was not in favour of the recognition of Israel till the resolution of Palestine and Kashmir problems.

He was talking to newsmen at the residence of former ANP MNA Haji Nasimur Rehman, who was recently released by the National Accountability Court.

Mr Haq suggested that Pakistan should consult the Organization of Islamic Conference on the matter. He said those favouring recognition of Israel should keep it in mind that the Jewish state had always supported India against Pakistan.

The PML-Z president said he would soon call a conference aimed at unification of various factions of the Muslim League, excluding the PML-N.

He supported convening of a meeting of the heads of political parties by Prime Minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali on July 26 and hoped that the opposition would demonstrate flexibility in their attitude.
