RAWALPINDI, July 22: A PIA Boeing 737 developed some “technical fault” after landing at Islamabad airport on Tuesday night due to which 125 passengers remained stuck in the plane for some time before disembarking, sources told Dawn.

Defence Minister Rao Sikander Iqbal, Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat, Human Rights, Law and Justice Minister Raza Hiraj and some parliamentarians were among the passengers, source said.

All 125 people — 118 passengers and seven crew members — on board the flight, PK-388, which landed at about 9:15pm, remained stuck in the plane for about half-an-hour.

The technical ground staff succeeded in removing the fault in their fourth attempt. An inquiry has been ordered. However, according to the ground staff the fault was in a knob. PIA officials claimed that the ground staff did not handle the matter properly.
