Two Chenab Rangers, civilian injured in exchange of fire near Sialkot

SIALKOT: At least two Chenab Rangers and a Pakistani citizen were injured in the early hours of Monday when personnel from the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) fired shots across the Working Boundary into the Charwah and Chaprar sectors near Sialkot, sources in the Chenab Rangers said.
There were also some reports that firing from across the boundary killed several livestock.
Chenab Rangers responded to the shots and an exchange of fire took place with the use of heavy weapons along the Working Boundary after which firing from the other side stopped.
The firing had begun on Sunday night and continued until Monday morning.
The incident comes days after Narendra Modi accused Pakistan of waging a proxy war in Kashmir as he visited the town of Kargil to inaugurate two hydropower stations in nearby Leh and Kargil.

These stories coming in a day ahead of the talks begin shows how army from both sides do not want these talks to happen. What a shame.

Every day is like every another day here. Indian media says pak violated ceasefire open fire on bsf. Pak media says reverse. Only God knows who violates ceasefire first?? In pakustani constitution army rocks. Unfortunetly pak army N some of Indian politician don't want peace N harmony. Resolution to Kashmir issue N wide spread peace N harmony will make pak army insignificant at home N boring to Indian politician. Poor common peoples are suffering in this game.

The two DGMOs should meet early and restore the ceasefire. With both countries sticking to their positions, the freedom struggle is unlikely to end any time soon. In the meantime, let the innocent villagers on both sides live in peace.

I did not conflict the report by Dawn. I was pointing out how media in two different countries are saying different things. Neither of the news agencies have feet at the border and rely on respective military to provide information. Even in this article it clearly says the source is Chenab Rangers. Where does DAWN reporting come under threat with my post?
My point was, the timing of these incidents do not speak well of the Military of both the countries.

@Saad Zafar : No doubt on Dawn's integrity but they do not go to see who opened fire first but gets the briefing from Pakistan Army same as NDTV gets from Indian Army. Now the question who is lying, answer is either Indian Army or Pakistan Army. Don't drag news channel's integrity into it.

Pakistan did not start and avoiding these kind of issues. Problem is with Indian military. Also Indian Army never want peace in between 2 countries because their billion of dollars budget shall be reduced if no one afraid of war, so they keep on doing this to let flow of money in their pockets. Its all money now a days. Its very sensible approach that Pakistan army already busy at Afghanistan border and Wazirstan but this did not mean Pak army do not have strength to stop eastern border. Whenever some good gestures appears to be promoted these things occurred and for sure its not by Pakistan Army now a days.

The point that crosses across my mind each time is - Who'll benefit from these ceasefire violations ? Interestingly, each time some incidents happen in Pakistan, cease fire violations happen. Now, as Imran Khan and Dr.Qadri are in action, again it's ceasefire violation !!! I think, stoking up anti-India feelings is a way to tide over the current crisis in Pakistan.

Common perception here is, Pak army is in a driver seat regarding foreign policy. As usual issues between army and political setup there are not in sync. On the top of that internal political turmoil is at its peak. In the mean time the Pak diplomat in Delhi has called meeting with Kashmiri separatists. So, no progress will be achieved when secretaries from both sides will meet that's the likely outcome.

In Pakistan army is an institution. From the day one Pakistan is truly ruled by the army. In India, army has nothing to do in civilian affairs. Once there will be peace in India and Pakistan then the biggest looser will be Pakistan army. It will be under the civilian governments. That is not acceptable for the army generals. Therefore, Pakistan army is the real enemy of the peace process of these two countries.

@NORI well in Pakistan things don't work as they work in India...Pakistani media will just run a slide and thats it, no one will go nuts about it like indian media do. Also I remember how Anna hazary was protesting and India started the border skirmishes and all of a sudden all of your media attention shifted to Pakistan, but in in Pakistan no party comes to power on the bases of anti India sentiment and India is not as big a part of politics in Pakistan the way we are for you.
