Greeky English

THIS is with reference to the cover story “Greeky English” by Syeda Mahnoor Raza (YW, August 2, 2014).

It was an amazing article on Greek gods and goddesses and all of us siblings loved reading it.

It was interesting to read about the origin of common words like ‘Atlas’ and ‘Nike’, as I didn’t know from where these words came.

Virtual Piano

THIS is regarding the website review “Virtual Piano” by Asif Ali (YW, August 2, 2014). No doubt the website was very cool. When I played the piano on my PC with speakers attached, my mum thought I was actually playing a real piano and she was surprised to see me playing it through a computer keyboard.

The sound of the piano was quite similar to a real piano, so I enjoyed it very much.

Young World

I WOULD like to appreciate the YW team for publishing nice stories and articles for children as well as for the elders. I am a school teacher, and I would like to request the team to publish articles regarding how to maintain discipline and behaviour in children especially the naughty ones.

Also, articles regarding how to improve the skills of students who are weak in the studies.

YW magazine improves children’s ability to behave nicely in all environments and students get easily influenced after reading something in this magazine.

More content

I AM an old reader of the Young World. In the past few months I have noticed that YW is focusing more on news and history topics rather than stories. There is only one story and that also with an awful illustration and disgusting looking characters.

Therefore, it is my request to the YW team to generate more interesting material and include more stories with good illustrations, quizzes, art competitions, etc.

Also, there should be more pages in the magazine so that we can have more reading material.

Believe in yourself

THIS is with reference to the story “An unforgettable bus ride” by Muhammad Areeb Nafeyuddin Siddiqui, (YW, July 12, 2014).

The story was written in a humorous way, yet it was full of reality about the condition of our public transport.

I appreciate the writer for writing on a very serious issue, but in a humorous way.

Opinion

Four hundred seats?

Four hundred seats?

The mix of divisive cultural politics and growth-oriented economics that feeds Hindu middle-class ambition and provides targeted welfare are key ingredients in the BJP’s political trajectory.

Perhaps Western ‘statesmen’ may moderate their policies if a significant percentage of voters punish them at the ballot box.
