HYDERABAD, July 21: The Husri police have arrested four persons, including a policeman, for selling fake gold pieces.

A police brief issued here on Monday said Mohammad Javed had lodged a report with the Husri police on July 19 that a man, Abdul Rasheed Bhatti, along with six accomplices, arrived at his shop and offered him custom-free gold. Mr Javed said he was given a piece of gold embossed with “ARY 2.5 fine gold” which proved to be pure gold on checking.

He said the next day occupants of a car (PL-7501), identified as Mohammad Ali Bhatti, Sultan Mehmood, Abdul Rasheed Bhatti, policeman Syed Iftikhar Ahmad, Munir, Abbas and Riaz Bhatti, gave him a shopping bag, containing gold coins. He said when these coins were checked they proved to be fake.

The man informed the police who constituted a team. The team during checking intercepted the car near the Bahawal Zaunr Chowk and arrested Mohammad Ali, Sultan Mehmood, Abdul Rasheed and Syed Iftikhar Ahmad.

They were found in possession of two stamps of ARY and fake gold. A case has been registered against the accused.
