PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has urged the nation in general and people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in particular to donate generously for facilitating the internally displaced people of North Waziristan Agency on the occasion of celebrating Eidul Fitr.

In a special message on Sunday, the chief minister said that he along with his party leader, Imran Khan and provincial ministers would celebrate the Eid with IDPs in Bannu.

The chief minister also extended Eid felicitations to the people and wished progress and development of the country. He also appealed to people to share Eid celebrations with destitute, especially orphans and poor children, and fulfill their needs and requirements.

He said that people could deposit their donations, especially Fitrana amount, in the CM Special Fund for the IDPs of North Waziristan Agency in any branch of commercial banks, including the Bank of Khyber. The provincial government has made special arrangements for delivering these donations and Eid gifts to IDPs through Provincial Disaster Management Authority, he added.

Mr Khattak said that it was duty of the people to remember IDPs in their prayers and celebrations, who had sacrificed their happy occasion for the joys of the nation and security of Pakistan.

“Youth, doctors, teachers, engineers, students, lawyers and people from all walks of life should collect donations at street, village and city level for the welfare of the people in distress. People should also arrange for sending doctors and volunteers for the help of the displaced people,” he said.

The chief minister urged the people to celebrate their Eid with simplicity in the backdrop of the difficulties of IDPs and bombardment of Gaza by Israeli military.

Pervez Khattak appealed to the people to maintain unity in their ranks to foil the conspiracies of the enemies of peace and humanity. He said that miscreants in the garb of religion were busy in anti-state activities to weaken Pakistan socially, economically and politically.

Pervez Khattak paid rich tribute to the people and jawans of Pak Army, police, FC and other law-enforcement agencies for rendering unmatched sacrifices in fight against violent extremism and terrorism to secure their mother land. He said that he wanted to tell the people on the occasion of Eidul Fitr that his government would fulfill all its electoral pledges.

He said that people would witness positive change in their lives as what he claimed the PTI-led provincial government had started a new era of governance. He said that his government focused on providing the people with cheap justice, ensuring merit and transparency, eradicating corruption, restoring durable peace and rehabilitating the destroyed infrastructure.
