BADIN: Police booked 200 growers who were found guilty of water theft on the first day of action against water thieves, said Hyderabad DIG of police Sanaullah Abbasi on Thursday.

Talking to journalists at his camp office here, the official said that police would do their best to prevent water theft and ensure the deserving growers receive water.

He asked executive engineers and SDMs to make surprise visits of canals and urged them not to involve poor farmers or estate managers of landlords in the water theft but register cases against the landowners themselves who might be very influential.
