UMERKOT: Heavy rain preceded by strong winds and a dust storm lashed Umerkot, its adjoining areas and parts of Badin district on Thursday evening, bringing relief to water-starved people.

The strong winds reportedly uprooted several trees and electricity poles, which resulted in suspension of power supply to Umerkot town and its adjoining areas.

It also rained in the towns of Pangrio, Shadil Large, Khoski and their adjoining areas in Badin district. The rain coupled with thunderstorm continued for half an hour and turned the weather pleasant.
