RAWALPINDI: Following a major reshuffle by Rawalpindi’s education department this Wednesday, over 500 schoolteachers were transferred within the district.

The teachers have been transferred from their current positions to serve at new schools after summer vacation.

The transfers were made under the reallocation policy to meet the teacher-student ratio at all schools in the district. According to the policy, every school will have one teacher for every 40 students.

A senior official from the education department said 60 teachers from Taxila tehsil, 89 from Kallar Syedan, 90 from Kotli Sattian, 85 from Kahuta tehsil and 200 from Gujar Khan were transferred.

He added that, other than Gujar Khan, notifications for all tehsils were issued on Wednesday. The official said teachers from Rawalpindi tehsil will be transferred on Thursday.
