JI demands Rs50,000 monthly allowance per displaced family

Emir Jamaat-i-Islami Sirajul Haq has demanded federal government to allocate a monthly allowance of Rs50,000 for the affected families of North Waziristan (NWA) operation.

Haq said the prime minister did not take the nation into confidence over the failure of peace talks and launch of operation.

"If the premier had taken the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government into confidence, then better arrangements would have been made for the internally displaced persons (IDPs)," Jamaat Emir said.

Haq also demanded the formation of a task force comprising of parliamentarians. He also asserted that the population of NWA immigrants has exceeded 750,000 and those who had migrated to Afghanistan could be an easy target for anti-state forces.

JI chief urged the prime minister and all political parties to visit the IDPs frequently.

Talking on Imran Khan’s threat of dissolving KP assembly, Haq said even Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) members disagree with their party chief on this stance.

Haq said that the PTI chief did not consult with JI for August 14 long march.

50,000 per family?. How many families in Pakistan have earnings of even 25,000 Rupees /month?. Not many is the answer. He might as well ask for Laptops, Air conditioners, Microwave ovens, Fridges and how about a car too?. This man is nothing but trouble maker. I don't know what is his profession?. How much money does he earn every month? and by doing what?.

Nawaz did not take the Nation in confidence because even he did not know any thing about the Operation himself, the speech he delivered in the Parliament was given after 36 hours after the operation took off on ground, Nawaz Sharif's body language was pathetic when he spoke at the Parliament and it was evident that he was reading the script in an unwanted manner as,probably the script was given to him and he had no choice but to read it. Secondly, Rs 50,000 monthly for each IDP family demanded by Maulvi Sahib is too much this sum is impractical, Maulvi Sahib should weigh average income of families in NWA.

why doesn't JI pay for each family? they are partly responsible for defending the TTP at every turn. If you haven't got the money why should the tax payer pay?

I fully support this demand. IDPs are suffering only because of government doing. Secondly I appreciate the help given by Al Khidmat to the affected families in the form of ration packs, clinics, ambulances etc.

Good JI Chief should also contribute to help IDP. The govt should insure comfortable living of IDPs however the amount suggested by JI chief is too much. All of the country's poors would apply to become IDP's

@Khalid The families did not leave their homes by choice. I think Rs50,000 per family is quite a justifiable demand. And just have a look at other comments. So disheartened to see the hatred and jealousy for our fellow Pakistanis. How can we pass comments for those suffering like this? Just because we are not the one's bearing all this doesn't give us any right to mock those who are.

@Pakistani Only people without brains would suggest that IDPs should not be helped. However, everyone will question 50,000/month. The average salary of a Pakistani family is less than 25,000 rupees/month so why ask for 50,000. What is the justification for that?.

Even though the ji chiefs demand is preposterous, and i am in general disagreement with everything the ji says or does. I believe that the response of the nation to the plight of the idps has been pathetic. They have endured the brainwashing and attrocities of the taliban for too long. Have lost too many kin to this evil. It is time the whole nation stood with them hand in hand and help them through these tough times. Food, shelter, health and education should be the primary focus. Later on investment and job creation along with assimilation of the tribes into the mainstream should be the longer term goals. Let them feel as they belong, let them feel they are us.

@Khalid You are partly right that the 50k per family seems outrageous. But consider this, the average size of a common Pakistani family is 5 to 6 folks, while tribal families consist of 10 to 15 people. Now consider the fact that most of these families don't want to stay at the camps set up by the government, main reasons for that being lack of Parda, threats from taliban and their own mindset. So they are living at rented places all across KPK and in Islamabad/Rawalpindi as well. In Bannu alone the rent for an average house has gone up from 4k to 20k per month. Considering all these factors even 50k seems like a small amount.

After all the people suffering from military operation are not displaced by choice, If we were displaced like this then what is 7000 was enough. We are here infront of our laptops and air-conditioned rooms never ever can imagine the sufferings of our countrymen. If not 50000 but atleast 25000 should been given to them. A lower middle class daily household is roughly 700 a day without medical charges, utility bills, guests, look at the rates of mangoes Before ramazan it was sold around rs. 80 per kg now today same quality is being sold at rs.160. It's better our tax money to be spent on these idp's then corruption.

This is ridiculous. A 50000 one-off payment is one thing, but on a monthly basis, this is unacceptable. 20-25k per family is more than enough, unless someone has special medical needs which must be met. Whatever approach JI has taken throughout Pakistan's history, the one thing their stance always has in common is an anti-state agenda. Now that they've been shamefaced due to their years of support for a terrorist group, they seek to destroy Pakistan financially, with this laughable demand. If they really believe in this, then they should cover 50% of the monthly expenses from their own budget.

I have been an IDP in my own city for the past 2 years. I want back pay from the Taliban first. Also every family of the 60k innocent killed due to the traitorous protection of JI should get 1 million rupees from JI leadership. If the US can sue the saudi's for 9/11 then why cant we sue them out of existance?

I guess you are upset about the army launching the operation to get rid of the murderers and thugs that have killed 1000s of innocent Pakistani citizens. You probably are the only person in Pakistan who doesn't want our Pakistan Army to kill every single terrorist in the country, irrespective of where in Pakistan they are. I am 100% behind the army because that is the only institution that can help the nation clean-up the mess these terrorists have created. I want the army to kill every single terrorist in Pakistan. Not one should be spared. We have lost too many of our people.

They have lost the right to live in Pakistan by supporting our enemies . By declaring that our jawans who are sacrificing their lives for our nation as "not Shaheed". By keeping their mouths shut when minority sects are bombed and killed . O.K. No problem if KPK government can afford to pay from its own resources, as NWA falls in their region, and federal government is there to protect people of KPK from these terrorists, who had earlier the support of the coalition partners. Had KPK would have been taken into confidence before operation, the information could have been leaked to these terrorists by their own persons who had soft corner for them and make the operation a failure for their own vested interests.

Its not moulana's fault, may be he was not good in math, He meant 5000 but could not tell the the difrrence between 5 and 50k. An averege middle class retired family in the U.S. gets little over Rs 50000 ($500) a month in soc. security. Does an avg. family in waziristan earns that much? If we go with moulanas thinking the Govt. will have to spend close to $400 Millions a month for 800000 IDPs (Rs40000000000). And if they stay a yr. the cost could be close to $5 billion Rs 500000000000).
