ISLAMABAD, July 15: The water level in Simly Dam has risen by 25 feet owing to the monsoon rains in the catchment area.

At present, the water level has reached the 2278.6-feet mark and is expected to increase during the season.

Official sources said heavy rain in the catchment area was recorded during the last couple of days, improving the overall situation. Recent heavy downpour also raised water level in five headworks, including Korang-I, Korang-II, Saidpur, Shahdara, and also in the Khanpur Dam, they added.

The sources said the Capital Development Authority (CDA) had resumed full water supply from the Simly Dam. At present, the CDA is supplying 42 million gallons per day (MGD) from the Simly Dam, Khanpur (7MGD), tubewells (24MGD), augmentation (6MGD) and other sources (4MGD).

According to the rules, when water level in the Simly Dam reaches 2280-feet mark, the supply from the dam should not be less than 39MGD, they added.—APP
