GUJRAT: The University of Gujrat has got the state of art digital library that will be equipped with the latest facilities besides having a capacity of more than 300,000 books.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Nizamuddin inaugurated the Central Library on Wednesday.

Earlier, the UoG had a small library established in the academic block of the Hafiz Hayat Campus and now the new library has its own building on a 15 kanal piece of land near the VC office.

Its multi-storeyed building also houses four main halls, two display halls and a seminar hall.

Library in charge Muhammad Imran Siddiqui said space for books storage would be enhanced with the passage of time.

He said 100 computers had been installed in the library for the users.

He said there was a capacity of 250 seats in the media hall which would be used for audio and visual training of the students.

Meanwhile, the UoG Video Conference Hall has been renamed as Prof Syed Shabbir Husain Video Conference Hall in the memory of the late Prof Syed Shabbir Husain Shah, former director UoG who was assassinated during a targeted attack in November last year.

DONATION: The district government employees have decided to donate one-day salary to the Punjab chief minister’s relief fund for the Internally Displaced People (IDPs) of the North Waziristan.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the district government officials with Gujrat DCO Liaqat Ali Chatha in the chair and DPO Rai Ijaz Ahmed and others among the participants.

Meanwhile the employees of the University of Gujrat (UoG) have also announced to donate one-day salary for the same cause.

The Pakistan Army has also established a donation collection camp at the Zahoor Elahi Stadium.
