Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University organized a three-day inter-faculty Badminton Championship, which concluded at the varsity’s gymnasium on Thursday.

This year over 40 students participated in men’s single, women’s singles, men’s doubles and women’s doubles.

Students and faculty members watched final matches and enjoyed every good stroke and shouted slogans in favour of their teams and departments.

In women’s singles final, Ms Komal, student of university institute of management sciences (UIMS) defeated Ms Ufaq of agriculture faculty by 21-16, 21-14.

In women’s doubles, Ms Marryam, Ms Irum, students of university institute of information technology beat Sheher Bano and Ishrat Fatima by 21-18, 21-16.

In men’s singles, Abdul Basit, student of agriculture faculty defeated Asif Bader, student of education department by 21-11, 14-21, and 21-15. Noor Mohammad and Mohammad Ikram, students of agriculture faculty, beat Umaish Khan and Kamran Munir, students of university institute of information technology, by 21-12, 14-21, 21-16 in the men’s doubles.

Speaking on the occasion, the university vice-chancellor, Dr Rai Niaz said: “These activities help in grooming physical, intellectual and social attributes among the students.”

At the end, he distributed prizes and certificates among the winners.
