RAWALPINDI, July 14: The district Nazim, Raja Tariq Kiani, on Monday ordered the contractors and Project Management Unit (PMU) officials to expedite the work on Nullah Leh bridges.

The deadline for the project was earlier extended till September.

During his visit to the under-construction Pirwadhai bridge, the Nazim took note of the slow pace of work on the bridge and warned the contractors that no further delay would be tolerated.

He said preference should be given to open the bridge for traffic so that the people could be saved from inconvenience.

Mr Kiani was informed by the PMU officials that a narrow service road was being constructed along the embankments of the Leh to provide better access to the nearby localities. Later, he visited Dhoke Chiraghdin bridge, where he was informed that the construction might take another couple of months. He directed the contractors to form different teams to take up different components of the project.
