LARKANA: The bodies of a woman and her daughter were found dumped near Seelra village on the outskirts of Shahdadkot, the B-Section police said on Tuesday.

They said 40-year-old Niamat Khatoon and her 25-year-old daughter, Gulzaran, were found killed in mysterious circumstances. Initial investigations suggested that the two women were brought to Seelra from Allahdino Chandio village, falling within the remit of the Mahi Makol police station of Qambar-Shahdadkot district, adding that the women were later gunned down somewhere and their bodies were dumped near Seelra village.

They said they arrested Niamat Khatoon’s son, Nusrat Ali Chandio, who claimed that his mother and sister were killed by his ‘opponents’. Not believing his claim, the police continued the interrogation and, in the mean time, handed over the two bodies to his brother, Ayaz Chandio, after a post-mortem examination.

They said the double murder seemed to be a case of ‘honour killing’ and Nusrat Chandio was the prime suspect.

“The suspect is telling us a concocted story,” they said.
