ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Senator Haji Ghulam Ali said that the government had failed to provide relief to common people in the recent budget, adding that the federal government should allocate funds for the education and health sectors of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.

“The provincial government of KP is in the hands of juvenile people who are unable to work for the betterment of the common man,” he said during a session of the Senate.

ANP Senator Abdul Nabi Bangash said that Pakistan was fighting against terrorism while KP was playing a frontline role in the war against terror.

“The suicide bombers are sitting in different ranks of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N),” he alleged.

PML-N Senator M Hamza said that the government had focused on industries in the recent budget while it negated agriculture which was the back bone of Pakistan’s economy.

He said that the government should reduce the prices of fertilizers which were very high.

Meanwhile, Awami National Party (ANP) Senator Afrasiab Khattak alleged that the establishment was involved in pushing forward test-tube politicians in Pakistan.

“It is very common in Pakistan that the establishment gives birth to test-tube politicians as per its requirements,” he said.

The ANP Senator said that late Nawab Baksh Marri was against the “kalashnikov culture” in Afghan politics which created problems for Pakistan as well. He said nobody could fulfill his absence.

Khattak said that Marri did not agree with some clauses of the Constitution of the 1973 which is why he left parliamentary politics in 1973.

Earlier, Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) members had staged a walkout from the Senate session after Senator Tahir Mashhadi of the party was not permitted to conclude his speech on national budgetary recommendations.
